The PS3 is also a HUGE Blu-Ray pusher. Sony has A LOT more on the line here than just a gaming system. HD-DVD is heating up the format war and once again Sony's arrogance has put them in trouble. They always under estimate the competition. I'm not saying HD-DVD will win.... but it isn't dead like Sony claimed it would be.

Blu Ray killed Sony's chances. BR is the reason the sytem got delayed. Blu Ray is the reason the system is so expensive. Blu Ray is a flop. Ohh and so is HD-DVD . MS was smart in sticking with the cheaper DVD format. People constantly say... "But your disks only hold up to 9 gig, Blu Ray holds 50 Gig" What you are missing is NONE of that matters if everyone buys an Xbox. If you own a 360 you do not care if your game comes on 2, 3, 4, 8 disks... so what? That is not going to mak...

MS releases Xbox 360 and Sony bashes them for not having 100% BC and using software to do it.
Sony uses PS2 chip to get 100% BC.... well almost.
Sony cuts out chip and uses software to do BC.
Sony now cuts out BC all together.
Meanwhile the same people that waived the "You Must be BC" flag when MS was not going to be 100% BC are now saying its no big deal.
